Out of Office: Hawaii

Consider this my OOO for the next two weeks, because this baby mama is off to La La Land and Hawaii ! When travel plans were originally made, it was a work-transition trip; now, its a baby moon.

Blame the hormones or whatever is going on with my horoscope, but something about embarking on an adventure knowing it will be the *last time* its just me and husband (as in, just us two in this fam unit) has me feeling some type of way. Which is why my goal is to just take it all in, be present, and try to sear everything into memory before everything about pre-baby life gets swept up in the post-baby amnesia (oh and also try not to let the fact that I'll be looking like a beached whale instead of wearing any of these wish-I-could pack items bother me - that too). Aloha, amigos.

The Freya Brand

Something old, something new. The phrase usually conjures up wedding-related thoughts, but not today. Those words come to mind as I sit here trying to decide what color bag from the Freya Brand I like the most. Conceived as modern-day hat boxes, the Mini Poppy Bag is basically two things in one: a shrunken luggage staple from a bygone, glamorous era, and a luxurious, on-trend handbag - perfectly sized and perfectly designed.

The San-Francisco-based Freya Brand offers more than just the mini bag (my fav), and co-founders Linsay Radcliffe and Lindsay McConnon struck gold in developing a prototype hat box that is 100% leather and handmade in Italy. I love the functional shape (I can see myself rocking one in the day as easily as I could to a black-tie night function), unique design (the leather strap and brass hardware accents are everything), and after much pondering, am convinced I need the red one (just in case husband is reading).

Hold On To Summer

I feel no sort of rush to stop wearing summer clothes, which may or may not be because Houston is sure to continue feeling like a sauna for another two months (at least). So I'm keeping it easy breezy on here for now and giving you a (hopefully) nice break from the velvets and furs that are dominating your air waves. Keep the spritzes a'coming.

Dress For The Ring You Have

I know I can't be making this up... and if memory serves me right, back in the day when I used to get drunk off wedding magazines, there were often engagement-ring personality quizzes - a'la if you're x, then you're a princess cut or if you're y, round's the shape for you.

Gone are my days of wedding magazines (replaced by wedding websites), gone are the days of personality quizzes (by this point I should know), and gone are the days of wondering what my engagement ring will look like (yo-ho, yo-ho, an emerald-cut life for me). But I did my own form of creative reminiscing when Over the Moon asked me to put looks together inspired by different engagement ring styles. And here you have it.

Green With Mild Anticipation

Anyone else get a weird sense of stressful confusion when you go about your daily morning check-on-my-fav-online-shops routine and get bombarded with fall/winter clothes? There's no word to adequately describe it, but the phrase can you just hold the phone because it's still 100 degrees outside and I'm going to forget about this [insert item here] by the time I can actually wear it pretty much sums it up.

Well that's the current mood over here, which is only diluted when something in an emerald/hunter green hue pops up on my screen, which gets me (slightly) giddy with anticipation. Funny how your favorite color can still muster the same excitement at nearly 30 years of age as it did in kindergarten.
